About the challenge Zambia is facing:
By providing education, sporting opportunities and food support, the Malalo Sports Foundation (MSF) is making a massive difference to the children of Zambia. The United Nations have recognised the outstanding work that the MSF have done via their sustainable sport programmes, and local residents are depending on the support that the MSF provides. Malalo literally translates to “Bridges”, explaining the main objective of the foundation, to offer a bridge to young people.
However, Covid-19 offers to threaten this hard fought for progress. For the fortunate between us COVID-19 means working from home, or a change to our lifestyle, for the children living in Zambia it means a basic food shortage. Zambia has been placed into lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus meaning that challenges of food supply have developed. Families are struggling to get food, and the Foundation needs funds to buy food supplements and educational supplies to help Zambian children from low-income households. Instability caused by COVID-19 means that international support is insecure as every nation faces the same challenge. Zambia is one of Africa’s poorest countries ranking 165th out of 177 countries, with over two thirds living below the poverty line, almost 20% of children do not reach adulthood. Food resources are vulnerable, and will be close to being depleted within a week.
But we have an opportunity to give the children their best fighting chance. By giving as generously as you can, your action today will allow the Malalo Sports Foundation to support the children of Zambia through this difficult time. Please also join us in sharing the cause with your network of families, friends, and colleagues.
Together, we can give the gift of hope and make a difference to the children’s chances of survival;
- By donating just 5 US dollars (approximately £4) today you can help to support a family of six for an entire day.
- By donating 35 US dollars (approximately £28) today you can help to support a family for an entire week.
- By donating 140 US dollars (approximately £115) today you can help to support a family for an entire month, or 4 families for a week.
