SOME lucky dog gets to compete in the OVER 60 division of the Lucy Mackenzie 5K9 Trail Run this year!! That is if they had age divisions and if I was really hoping to "compete"...then I would be the aforementioned lucky dog. But if there were age classes, and since there may not be any other runners over 60, I feel confident that I have a shot at finishing in the top 10 of that theoretical age group.
I do hope to mark this milestone with my final hurrah to fund raising for awhile. I'm pledging to not ask friends and family for sponsorship for 5 years until I once again face off with the mountain!
All the proceeds go to the General Operation of Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society and the awesome work that they do. Just in the past couple weeks 2 cats were brought to us who would have likely died painful deaths if we did not get involved immediately. One arrived with a leg requiring amputation and another with what was a near fatal blockage. Today these cats are amazingly friendly and happy and recovering well. During that same time 17 lovely dogs arrived from a kill shelter in Mississippi and they are being cared for as we prepare them for adoption.
So, feel free to support me in spirit, or monetarily. Or you can possibly support your own local shelter instead. Just know that doing what these folks do everyday to brighten the lives of these innocent animals is hard and important. Without animal shelters and humane societies there would be even more animals suffering and struggling to survive. Or, you could come out and participate yourself, with or without your pooch! I will promise you one thing...running the trails at Mount Ascutney is DEFINITELY good exercise!
Thanks for supporting the animals!!
PS: The pretty cat in the photo is my all time favorite friend from Lucy Mackenzie...Turtle!!
