Help us support the educational needs of families in our community!
The demand for educational support during these difficult times is extremely high. One of the things this pandemic has done is lay bare all the ways that school is knitted into the fabric of our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced school administrators to make hard decisions concerning in-school classes. For example, students in the Gettysburg Area School District will be in their actual classrooms two days a week with the remaining three days consisting of virtual learning. This has forced many families to make difficult decisions in an effort to balance work, childcare and “homeschooling”.
Therefore, in response to the high demand for the educational support needs of our community, the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County will be providing a Student Support Center at Gettysburg Foursquare Church. The Center will provide remote learning opportunities Monday through Friday for students in grades 6 through 9.
All funds raised will go directly to support the ability to provide this service at no cost to the families. The Student Support Center will provide a safe, nurturing environment for students on their non-school attendance days. Our shared goal is to ease parents’ stress so they can return to work and provide for their families.
