Hey Team! Today on Feb 15th, I ran my first 10k ever. Can you believe that?! And with the goal of 55:00, I came in at 52:42...AMEN! This was no easy feat for me mentally or physically.
For the past 10 years post undergrad, I never believed I was fit to run more than a 5k race. I fell into the mental trap that because I was a sprinter in my old track career, I shouldn't and couldn't go more than 3 miles.
My mindset shifted for a few reasons:
2. Bernie's love for track and his long distance expertise revived my fire to race.
3. Life is fragile and short. This hit home after Kobe's tragic passing. #MambaMentality
4. AND I need to get in shape to fit that wedding dress lolol :)
All jokes aside I truly believe in sweating for good, LOVE the connection between sport and social change, and would like to invite you to make a contribution to Positive Tracks - the non profit board that I serve on supporting youth and sweat for change.
"The power of sport and physical activity provides a compelling platform where youth can gather, educate and mobilize their community while learning leadership skills that shape who they are." More information about Positive Tracks can be found here.
Join me in making a donation to specifically support Positive Track's scale plan to reach more youth across race, gender, and geographic footprint. I am advising the diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at Positive Tracks and would love your support. Thank you for the consideration.
