I’m playing 100 holes of golf in one day (walking!) to support Youth on Course and need your help! My goal is to raise $40,000 and all gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law. Linda and I have seeded this effort with the first $5,000 with hope that you’ll consider a tax-deductible gift to help me reach my goal.
Of course, you’d be right to ask: ”Bill, are you NUTS?”. I think I’d answer you with “I’m pretty sure I am”.
Being co-creator of Quinn’s Brigade to celebrate dear friend Pat Quinn’s play in the 2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as the President of the Northern California Golf Association, we raised nearly $265,000 for Youth on Course and had a ball doing it.
I’d likely follow Pat almost anywhere. I said “likely” and “almost”. With PQ, you could end up literally anywhere, so you have to use tempering words such as those above. To a golf course is well within “ok” territory for me, as PQ asked if I’d consider helping out and having fun with YOC’s 100 Hole Hike and like a person who should be evaluated for his mental stability, I said “sure”.
Frankly, I love the idea of a personal challenge—which will clearly be the 20+ miles of walking, if my ball goes straight. And, let’s face it, it won’t. My guess is that if my ball follows similar patterns to a day on the golf course, I’ll walk something more on the order of 30 miles, but who’s counting? Just hope that I don’t get dizzy from all those zigs and zags in and out of the woods.
That said, I am fired up about supporting a great cause—YOUTH ON COURSE—a program that does so much for so many young people in our area who love the game of golf but who don’t have ease of access to golf courses. WE all know that golf embraces gentlemen and gentlewomen with foundational life skills and life lessons all without a damn cell phone in one’s hand.
Now in its 13th year, YOC is expanding nationally and currently operates in 30 states and Canada serving OVER 45,000 youth members, and provides access to affordable golf at over 1,000 facilities nationwide. I’m proud to share that in addition to a fantastic junior golf program started on our opening day at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club where juniors play for free with paying adults, CHGC is a participating YOC golf course.
Please consider a donation of whatever you find comfortable--or don't and that's OK to! I certainly appreciate any consideration and encouragement you wish to share.
From the bottom of my heart, the bottom of my feet and from my soon-to-be-chiropractor’s wife who will so appreciate her new jewelry, THANK YOU!!!
