As the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic hits communities globally, we are seeing the immediate impact locally. Beyond the health risks, youth and families in our Youth of Promise program are experiencing rising unemployment & economic instability.
Youth of Promise supports and empowers Pasadena youth impacted by poverty, violence, and incarceration. Most youth in the program come from families living paycheck to paycheck, and a majority of these caregivers have lost their employment due to the COVID crisis.
Today, your gift will ensure stable access to food, housing, and continued opportunities for the youth we serve.
With schools transitioning online and families heavily burdened, Youth of Promise adapted quickly to meet the current need:
1. No Breaks in Supportive Services: Weekly case management, community-building and tutoring sessions now take place virtually, providing an outlet for youth to connect with their peers and continue receiving academic support.
2. Staying Together While Apart: Program staff are engaging youth through new and creative online programs. Youth are meeting up with their mentors on the House Party app, engaging in trivia competitions with peers, and staying fit with Girls on the Run.
3. Expanded Financial Assistance: Youth of Promise is supporting the needs of families in the current moment, responding directly to pressing issues of food and housing insecurity.
Youth of Promise remains committed to youth and families across our community. Your donation ensures that youth continue learning and growing throughout this crisis.
As we face this unprecedented moment, any amount you give will make a difference for those disproportionately feeling the impact of this crisis. We can’t do this important work without your support.
