There's no place like home. And for a senior dog or cat that ends up in a shelter in their golden years, home is the only place they want to be. Young at Heart needs your help so that their last days aren't in a shelter, but in a loving home.
Young at Heart is a rescue and safe haven for senior dogs and cats that have found themselves without a home in their golden years. Over 1000 senior pets have called Young at Heart "home" after finding themselves surrendered to traditional shelters after their guardian died or could no longer care for them.
These are older pets that had once been loved, cherished, and part of a family- until one day they found themselves without a home. Often, an older dog or cat sits patiently in a shelter, awaiting a soft voice, a kind hand, or even a friendly glance. They sit and wait, often scared, often depressed, and almost always overlooked by potential adopters. Passed by for younger dogs and cats, these pets are often just what an adopter is looking for – quiet, calm, housebroken, good with kids, affectionate and easily acclimated to a new home. Yet, they sit and wait for someone to love them, until many times, it is too late.
Young at Heart's mission is to save the lives of homeless senior dogs and cats from traditional shelters where their age puts them first in line to be euthanized. We find loving homes for adoptable senior pets, and offer a peaceful sanctuary life for those that are less adoptable. "Special needs" seniors are truly special here at Young at Heart, as they spend their days pampered and loved, enjoying each day as an old dog or cat should.
Young at Heart has been "home" to over 1000 senior dogs and cats, and with your support, we will be home to many more. It costs an average of $1000 to rescue a senior pet - spay/neuter, teeth cleaning (and often pulling of rotten teeth!), xrays and medications for arthritis, bloodwork, and so much more. But providing them with a full geriatric work up helps us keep them comfortable in their golden years, and helps their new families know how to best care for them. And our goal is to raise enough funds to save the next 50 senior pets - $50,000.
Will you help 50 senior dogs and cats get a second chance to enjoy their golden years in a loving home?
