Help us introduce young runners to trail running!
Help the next generation discover their connection to nature and inner strength and joy.
With your support, Run Wild is excited to present our young runners program. Starting this fall, we will pay the registration fees for up to 100 young runners to participate in a local 5k race and arrange bussing to the event.
Run Wild's core mission is to support land preservation and stewardship in the Hudson Valley (and beyond). We believe that the smartest strategy for land preservation is to help people appreciate nature. That means getting the next generation connected to nature through activities such as trail running.
To kick off our young runners program, we've chosen a wonderful event with beautiful grassy trails, open fields, ponds, and rolling forested hills -- the Meadows & Trails 5k, hosted by the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum on October 23, 2021 in Cornwall, New York. Registration is $40. If you'd like to sponsor one young runner, please contribute $40. If you'd like to sponsor ten young runners, you can contribute $400. We will also use funds raised to provide bussing to and from the event. No funds raised in this campaign will be used for administrative or operating expenses.
We are going to make a special effort to get a diverse mix of young runners to this race, and to do so we'll reach out to teachers, coaches, and others in underserved areas, such as Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, and New York City. If you have connections in these areas, please email Ken Posner at firstname.lastname@example.org
