This winter, I'm fundraising for YCore, an organization I joined this fall!
TLDR - help me raise money for YCore (https://ycore.org/) and build capacity for local nonprofits while mobilizing more young professionals to get involved in social impact and invest more time, money and resources into their local communities. Through this fellowship, my team and I are partnering with the San Francisco Beacon Initiative (sfbeacon.org), an organization that transforms schools into youth and family oriented centers of learning and community via integrated programming (after school, lunch time, etc). You can donate in two ways:
-via Venmo for 2x donation matching (@christina-zhou, make sure to mention this fundraiser in your note - this will be pooled for corporate donation matching so your donation will go a long way! I'll update these as donations come in
-via this fundraiser (Goes directly to YCore and is tax deductible!)
More details below:
YCore is a nonprofit that connects social impact organizations with young professionals to work on strategic capacity building projects. Additionally, the organization empowers young professionals with the necessary skills to impact their local community now and for the rest of their careers. Through this fellowship, my team and I are partnering with the San Francisco Beacon Initiative (sfbeacon.org), an organization that transforms schools into youth and family oriented centers of learning and community via integrated programming (after school, lunch time, etc). I've benefited immensely from extracurricular programming in my well funded public school district in my K-12 days, so it's exciting to be working with an organization that is focused on expanding educational opportunities for SF youth and leveraging schools to build community.
The focus of our team's project is helping operationalize professional development support for staff, especially as they scale. Our top priority will be developing a system to better support leadership development, a playbook if you will. Additionally, we'll be coming up with tools and processes to evaluate workshops and professional development initiatives in a more seamless way. By talking to Beacon center directors and staff, and SF Beacon Initiative leadership, we've learned about the challenges that make this work very difficult, but also the heart and compassion that they share with the kids.
YCore itself is a NGO, and needs resources to operate. As a project lead, I have a fundraising goal of $2000. This will be the largest amount that I will have ever raised, and I am grateful for any and all help towards this goal! These funds will go towards future YCore programming as well as program expansion so that more people can learn and collaborate with nonprofits and each other to solve strategic problems. I’m excited by this challenge and to fundraise more consistently over time.
If you're curious to learn more, I'd be happy to chat about this in more depth. Thank you very much!
