On Saturday, May 19, Osborne’s Children, Youth, and Family Services and Youth Action Council (YAC) will host the inaugural "Balling for Change" Basketball Tournament & Fundraiser. bit.ly/balling4change
Our Youth Action Council is a group of 15 – 18 year old people whose mission is to raise awareness about the effect of parental incarceration on children and create positive changes in the criminal justice system in order to improve the lives of the many children affected by their parent’s criminal justice involvement.
The event takes place from 11am-3pm at the St. Francis College Gymnasium, 180 Remsen Street, Brooklyn, 11201. Come cheer on the YAC Team and join us for community, food, and fun – as well as a special half time show.
Please support this event with a donation and come be part of this special day. Our youth are organizing this fundraiser to help more kids share the YAC experience. Your donation to “Balling for Change” will be used to fund important activities like:
· Visits to see parents · Advocacy days in Albany· Weekly team building activities· Monthly outings · Trips to colleges· Opportunities to grow
The YAC is building awareness and support for the programs they benefit from and love – and they want more kids to benefit, too. When you make a donation, you will be entered in a raffle to win TWO ROUND TRIP JET BLUE TICKETS, among other prizes. Winners will be announced during the tournament.
The competing teams will be made up of Osborne family, friends, and staff. The "home team" will be the YAC Team, comprised of our youth leaders. Along with the friendly competition, there will be free food, music, games, and more to enjoy throughout the event.
We'll gather honor the bravery and resilience of the 2.7 million children with incarcerated parents in the United States. Incarceration does not stop a child’s love, and we stand—and cheer—to support and protect the rights of all children. Read the Children of Incarcerated Parents Bill of Rights and donate now to support these dynamic youth and their vital mission.
St Francis College Gynasium is at 180 Remsen Street in Brooklyn. The closest subway stations include Borough Hall (2, 3, 4, 5), Court Street (R), and Jay Street-Metrotech (A, C, F)
