It's official! The City of Big Spring has donated this building to our newly-formed nonprofit - West Texas Community Mediation Center! I will be our first Executive Director and have a God-given vision to lay a strong foundation to support the Howard County and surrounding areas. We hope to offer supervised visitation, parenting, anger management and conflict resolution services, as well as a computer lab for a mentoring and tutoring program. Big dreams and visions take a lot of volunteers and financial support. If you can help us with any of our services or want to be a part of this venture, the renovation process and covering the utility expenses we would be greatly appreciative. No amount is too small because little becomes much when you place it in God's hand! Thank you in advance for your gift!
Before Covid struck we had a meeting, on March 4, 2020 to be exact. Everyone was full of great anticipation and then nothing...we were shutdown. Like many nonprofits we were not able to meet, but we were just getting started. So, how do we move forward when we can't meet. We Zoom, we talk on the phone, but grantors aren't granting funds and other doors are closed. Then, we get a lead. The city wants to give the county the old water office building, but the county doesn't want it. Hey, how about us!? The city says yes and gifts us the building! Wonderful news, but now we need to renovate! New roof, new floors, mold removal, ADA compliance, etc... maybe over $30K for repairs, but hey, it's ours! Thank God we have a building! Now the real work begins. Will you help?
