Dear Friends of the SFVRCC,
There are many extremely important causes and organizations that need our support these days. We watched with awe this week as the Supreme Court upheld DACA, but we still have hundreds of children registered with us whose many needs have yet to be met. As the COVID crisis continues to spread rapidly throughout California, the virus unceasingly impacts immigrant communities at a disproportionate rate both physically and economically, and our families have taken a big hit.
We’re making a special appeal on World Refugee Day for our children, as our support can be a matter of life and death for them. This significant financial support will allow us to not only keep our doors open, but will also help us provide the funds to pay the immigration attorneys who defend our children in the courts. Without this support, they will likely be deported back to their country of origin where they face extreme violence and even death by the gangs that they fled from in the first place.
Here’s a breakdown of what your donation will go towards:
$50 will provide a child with necessary personal hygiene items
$100 provides transportation for a child to attend court hearings
$500 covers the cost of processing legal applications for a child
$1,000 provides a child with the opportunity to retain an attorney and appeal a case
$6,000-$8,000 provides a child with full legal representation
The SFVRCC provides immediate needs for our families, including food and therapy services, and we also create a safe community for children that are recovering from deep trauma. Your gift will make a huge difference, and will give our children a chance at a new life here in the United States.
Let's help children be children.
