Blue Lake Camp is a United Methodist camp in the beautiful Conecuh National Forest, outside of Andalusia, AL. For the past 65 years we have welcomed thousands of kids to our camp and introduced them to Jesus Christ through connecting with nature.
This year was supposed to be one of our best years in many years. We were projected to have one of the largest summers and we had almost every weekend booked with private groups... Then the Coronavirus Pandemic hit.
Since the pandemic and shut downs, we have lost a total income of over $500,000 and are struggling to keep ourselves a float. We have had all of our private groups cancel through July and most of August, and we have had to cancel all of our summer camp programming.
The next question we usually get is "but what about the United Methodist Conference?" and unfortunately they also have been severely affected and have given all they can give, and we aren't expecting any more financial support from the conference level for 2020.
We have gone from having 19 full time employees to 5 by the end of July, and we aren't even sure if we can afford those 5 essential employees.
This is where you come in.
We are asking our community, our friends, and even strangers to step up and help us save our camp. We truly believe that God has a plan for camp, and closing is not part of that plan. Any donation large or small is helpful, together we can make it out of this pandemic so we can have campers here for summer 2021.
Please keep our summer camp running, don't let the doors close.
