Baraka Women’s Center (BWC) serves over 1,000 women living in Nairobi’s slums.
Hundreds of BWC members work with no safety net. When their small businesses falter under COVID restrictions, families go hungry.
Recently, the need for food staples has grown acute and we are focused on ensuring every woman and her children get to eat.
Beyond that, we continue with programs that the women want.
The Center helps members secure interest-free business loans, provides vocational training, educates members on COVID prevention, and employs them to make face masks. And there's everyday counseling and mentoring to keep problems from becoming debilitating.
Baraka Women's Center unites women in a necessary sisterhood of learning and growth.
WCI's goal is to sustain BWC's operations through February 2021, when other funding sources finally may come into play.
We are supporting BWC's plan to expand the Women's Centers network in Kenya.
And, In 2021, we expect to re-open of Oakland Women's Center.
With your contributions, WCI continues its essential work with the most vulnerable women.
