Woman’s Improvement Club of Corona
“Save Our Roof”
WOMEN OF THE FUTURE TO HELP PRESERVE WOMEN OF THE PAST
The Woman’s Improvement Club of Corona is a Family of Women, who are dedicated in many ways to making our City, and our community, a better place to live. Our members have provided support, and service, to a variety of individuals and organizations, for over a century. Whether it has involved education, health, economic opportunity, wildlife, the environment, or other worthy causes, our ladies have responded to the call, to help meet the needs of our local community. We ask your help in raising money, to replace the roof to our Landmark building, located in Corona.
The Woman’s Improvement Club of Corona (WICC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving our community and surrounding areas. Since our founding in 1899, generations of Corona women have donated their time, and treasure to the institutions and people that make our city special. Through membership dues and regular fundraisers, WICC provides scholarships to each of the High Schools in the Corona-Norco Unified School District for graduating students, helps underwrite the work of local non-profits, including Peppermint Ridge, Inspire, Settlement House, Support Sisterz, Riverside Rape Crisis Center, and Military Showers of Support. WICC also contributes to Corona Regional Medical Center Hospice and supports environmental and conservation efforts.
The Woman’s Improvement Club of Corona needs your help.
The money raised through our fundraisers goes to help other local non-profit organizations. We, therefore, lack the resources to cover the replacement roof. We have a major leak in our clubhouse. The roof is damaged beyond repair and there are several leaks in our building, we currently have several garbage cans to catch the drippings. The roof is deteriorating increasingly over time. The leak is structurally damaging a landmark. Your donation to our building fund will help keep our historic building, and serve the club, to continue to serve our community.
The contractor’s cost to replace the wooden roof (per historical regulations) is $150,000. The bid is valid through the end of the year. We ask your help, to help restore our roof, keeping our history and traditions of serving the community alive.
Our organization’s clubhouse, built-in 1913, is one of the many historic properties that have been featured in Corona’s annual Vintage Home Tour. In our role as stewards, we make the clubhouse available for rent to the larger Corona community, which allows WICC to afford the costs of property maintenance. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, our rental income has been reduced due to state-mandated social distancing guidelines and closures. Our ability to serve as responsible caretakers of our beloved clubhouse is in jeopardy.
We have no other choice but to raise these needed funds. This must happen to guarantee the future of the Woman’s Improvement Club clubhouse. Right now, please donate any amount you can afford. Press the Donate Button above, or send us a check made payable to Woman’s Improvement Club of Corona (WICC) with the notation “Raise the Roof Fundraisers”, to P. O. Box 188, Corona, Ca 92878-0188. We thank you for any support you can provide.
