In the past few months I have been able to participate in Crossfit, which is a very community-focused athetic discipline. Especially right now, community is very important. Participating in Crossfit has really helped me and many others to stay focused and connected this past year. Branded One is a gym in the Henderson/Las Vegas area that gives free memberships to disabled veterans, service men, and service women (please read about their story and their amazing mission statement below). They are putting on a competition fundraiser to raise money in order to provide more of these memberships and support more of our local veterans , service men, and service women. My teammate and I are so excited to be able to participate in this competition (our first Crossfit competition!).
We really appreciate your prayers and support as we raise money for this gym and support their cause!!
P.S.: WOD means "Workout of the Day"
Branded One Story:
This competition is in support of our mission as a non-profit to empower disabled servicemen and women. Our Las Vegas CrossFit gym operates off community donations & paid memberships. This has allowed us to provide FREE Gym Memberships to disabled servicemen and women in Las Vegas & Henderson.
One Nevada Veteran commits suicide every three days due to a variety of factors, including lack of support and PTSD. PTSD and other disabilities affect all service personnel, including military, firefighters, and police officers. However, those with PTSD and other disabilities recover better and have fuller lives when they are surrounded by a supportive community and engage in physical activity, which is why we exist. Branded One CrossFit creates the community servicemen and women are accustomed to. After leaving the service, they often feel alone or misunderstood and we alleviate these issues with the supportive and engaging community of Branded One. With "The Battle at Branded One" we hope to raise awareness in our local community and help those Branded Heroes. This campaign will help us to continue our mission of providing FREE CrossFit memberships and support to disabled servicemen and women in our very own community. www.brandedonecrossfit.org
