As the only animal shelter in Door County, we play a vital role in caring for the peninsula's animals and the people who love them.
Located in Sturgeon Bay, WI, the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) was founded in 1992 to fill a major gap in resources for area animals in need. By providing hands-on care to stray and surrendered cats and dogs, services for community pet owners, and educational programs, we are proud to serve this beautiful county. On January 1, 2018, DCHS became part of the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) and is now known as the WHS Door County Campus. Founded in 1879, WHS has been saving the lives of animals for nearly 140 years and serves 40,000 animals annually between 5 shelters and a public spay/neuter clinic.
There are no time or space limits in our shelters; every animal in our adoption program has as long as it takes to find a loving home. WHS is not a part of any national umbrella organization and receives no general government funding; we rely on donations from generous people like you! Every dollar raised through the 2018 Saving Pets Challenge will stay right here in Door County to serve the animals of Sturgeon Bay and the surrounding area.
Thank you so much for your consideration and support!
