Winston's story is a sad one. He spent his life breeding until the day his breeder did not find him profitable. Unfortunatley, it was discovered Winston had advanced testicular cancer. He was given 7-30 days to live and that is how he came to Dolly's Legacy and was placed in a foster home. Winston's foster mom taught him what it was like to be a pet. They made a bucket list and she introduced him to the world. He was so scared and timid because all he knew was living outside and being an object for breeding. With a lot of love and patience, Winston became a member of a family. He slept in bed with his mom, went to the lake, played with toys, and had doggy sisters to love. Winston lived for 90 days in his foster home. He passed away in his own home, his head resting in his mom's lap. His final moments were filled with a lifetime of peace and love.
We have one more adventure for Winston’s bucket list: we want him to travel the world. We want his story and legacy to reach the ears and hearts of people who buy from breeders and puppy stores. We want Winston to be the reason a dog or cat who is going to be euthanized gets adopted.
We have set a fundraising goal of $8,000 because Winston was only 8 years old when he passed away. All money will go directly to helping us rescue more deserving pets like Winston. Through this fundraiser, we would love for Winston to “visit” each state in the form of receiving a donation. No amount is too small. Leave a comment or a note telling us where you are from so we can keep track of where he has traveled. The farther we can spread Winston’s message, the better. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of Winston’s journey. We know he knew how loved he was.
