Students need help now more than ever. School closures and stay-at-home orders have affected their education, development, and wellbeing. As experts in helping teens succeed and addressing the workforce gap, we are actively working with metro Detroit high school students through mentoring and life skills development, empowering them to overcome today’s challenges while positioning them for future employment. Support from generous donors will prove vital to continuing our work, especially as we plan for the 2020-21 schoolyear and innovate and adapt to new norms necessitated by COVID-19. Please support our students by making a donation today!
The folks at Brogan & Partners have made a generous matching gift. Every dollar donated will be matched by Brogan & Partners up to a total of $2,500. THANK YOU BROGAN & PARTNERS!
Meet one of our current students and an alum.
Alizsa is a student in our program at Harper Woods High School. Normally, the program includes weekly in-class, face-to-face mentoring sessions with local business professionals along with an educational lesson plan. When schools shut down, so did our in-class program. But that didn’t stop us. Alizsa and her classmates continue to meet with their mentors and facilitators through online meetings and phone calls.
“The video sessions have helped me keep my life normal despite everything that’s going on,” said Alizsa.
Matthew is a 2017 graduate of our program at Cass Technical High School in Detroit. His mentor, Jack Dolan, executive vice president of the Americas at A2Mac1 – Automotive Benchmarking, inspired him to pursue a career in engineering and helped Matthew craft a five-year educational strategic plan. Today, Matthew attends Wayne State University where he is studying mechanical engineering and works as a structures engineering intern at Lear Corporation.
“Winning Futures taught me how to believe in myself,” said Matthew. “Knowing how to plan for my future and my goals – it’s helping me reach my full potential.”
