Our team is collectively accepting a challenge to use some of our summer fun time to support cancer patients and survivors by participating in the Lahey Cancer Institute 5K Walk & Run. What could be better than raising funds to help cancer patients and survivors, while having fun together?
Cancer doesn’t stop for the pandemic. Every day, caregivers continue to diagnose and treat patients and provide support for our survivors. Part of patients’ healing process is feeling our support building throughout all of us joining the 5K for them!
The virtual event is happening July 23-31, 2021. During that time, our team members will mapping out and completing their own 5K routes, while sending our team message of support to cancer patients and their amazing caregivers at Addison Gilbert Hospital, Beverly Hospital, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Lahey Medical Center Peabody, and Winchester Hospital.
The funds we raise reach cancer patients at those sites. Over the past 15 years, the Lahey Cancer Institute 5K Walk & Run has raised more than $3.25 million. Funds have been used for purchasing new equipment for cancer treatment, support groups, cancer survivor program, blanket warmers, renovating treatments rooms for patient comfort, healing gardens, and more.
We are going to run on Wednesday July 28th at 9am. It will be at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield. Lets have a fun outing as a team, and support those in our lives who have battled cancer, like our own amazing Angela!! If you cant walk or run, maybe you could just give a small donation to support us!! Hope to see you there!!
