Systemic oppression is the intentional disadvantages afforded to groups of people based on their identity while affording advantages to members of what is perceived as the dominant group. This bias of inequality in America has, historically and disproportionally, been based on race. The effects of systemic oppression has continued to negatively impact the lives of Black people in America for centuries. Racism, segregation, police brutality, mass incarceration, and inequality in education are just a few ways in which systemic oppression has embedded itself in American history and striped Black people of their human rights on a daily basis. The time is upon us to come together, change that dynamic, and re-shape our American culture for the better of us all.
B.E.E.F, which stands for Black Excellence Education Foundation, is a non-profit organization that was created in May of 2019. After all financial aid, scholarships, and grants are exhausted, B.E.E.F will provide the remaining funding needed for Black youth to attend colleges/universities and trade schools, which may otherwise be unaffordable. B.E.E.F aspires to give our Black youths the hope and encouragement needed for them to strive for excellence through education.
B.E.E.F's ultimate goal is become a catalyst in ending the inequality in this country's educational system that our Black youths have been a victim of for far too long. By donating today, you will be giving our Black youth access to higher education institutions and trade schools and so much more. If our young, Black scholars know that B.E.E.F is waiting to help them further their education after high school (or GED completion), they will make better choices and work harder to obtain their goals throughout their teenage years. Please understand that you are doing so much more than just sending Black children to school. By graciously giving to B.E.E.F today, you are personally contributing to a higher graduation rate for Black students, a decrease in the crime rate in this country, and eventually, a more diverse workforce and a stronger economy in America.
The Black youth of this country need you. B.E.E.F needs you. America needs you. The world is watching. The time to act is now.
