Have you ever seen someone using a white cane and wondered exactly what purpose it served?
For people living with vision loss, the white cane is a tool that represents independence. It facilitates safe navigation of homes, offices, and neighborhoods and helps members of the blind and visually impaired community avoid obstacles, find doorways, check for cracks in sidewalks, identify steps and curbs, and successfully board buses and get into cars.
At Vista Center, we recognize the white cane as symbolic of the freedom and independence all people deserve.
We celebrate the significance of the white cane and to that end, work closely with public and private partners to innovate by supporting product development and testing for other life changing assistive technology.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 in 30 days.
