Over the past couple of months I have worked for the LIFT Fitness Foundation as the Head Coach for our program at the Virginia Beach Housing Resource Center. From the begining I was excited to be apart of this foundation but I didn't realize just how much it would impact me or how important this program is to our athletes.
Every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays I am beyond grateful to work with these individuals. They are kind & gracious people who are just looking for that little extra push and assistance to help them get closer to their goals. There is such a bad preception of those who are homeless, but at the end of the day these are people just like you and me. This program allows for them to feel that, to be reminded that people care about them, and to keep up their drive and preservance to overcome all obstalces.
Your donation helps keep this program running! It allows us to keep working hard and bring awareness to homelessness and hunger here in Hampton Roads. This run isn't just about bringing attention to this issue but activiely making a difference in our communitiy!

White House 2 White House is a 200+ mile, 36-hour relay with 12 volunteers running on Saturday, November 9th through Sunday, November 10th from Virginia Beach, VA to Washington, DC. The relay is designed to bring greater awareness to the homeless and hunger crisis in our nation. The goal is to raise funds supporting services the LIFT Foundation currently provides in the Hampton Roads community.
“We wanted to be heard, we wanted the homeless population to be recognized and not swept underneath the rug,” said Jim White, Founder of the LIFT Fitness Foundation. “And what better way to do that than to use the gifts we have and the health message we speak daily and run to the nation's Capital."
LIFT (Lifting spirits, Improving bodies, Feeding souls, and Transforming lives) was designed to motivate, energize, and inspire those in need to believe in themselves while unleashing their full potential. The motivation provided by the LIFT staff and volunteers, combined with professional exercise instruction and nutrition education helps improve each members’ physique, stress level, sleep, confidence, energy, and overall health.
LIFT helps those in need feel they are a part of something, to be accountable to someone, and most importantly prove to themselves that they can overcome resistance, push past obstacles and make better choices. LIFT contributes to each participant’s job readiness by providing resume writing and interview skills coaching sessions, as well as consultations with vocational specialists to improve their knowledge of job opportunities in the community. LIFT focuses on motivating each participant to grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually; empowering them to believe in themselves and pursue employment and other goals with increased confidence.
