All of us here at Westminster Woods want to thank you so much for your ongoing care and support of
the ministry here, particularly during what’s been a difficult last few months. We are incredibly blessed by your generosity and truly cannot express our gratefulness enough for your continuing to make camp possible here at the Woods.
We have been receiving some gifts to offset the $130,00 loss described below. There have been gifts from churches, youth groups, and individuals. We have been grateful for each and every gift.
This Go Fund Me campaign is one of the ways we are trying to reach our goal of $130,000. A portion of these funds have already been raised by some donors. Please join them in supporting Westminster Woods.
As many of you are aware, the Board of Directors made the decision to cancel all summer camp activities for the months of June, July and August. Please know that we did all we could to consider other alternatives—it was only after much prayer and discussion that we determined there were no other viable options. It goes without saying that it was incredibly difficult and extremely sad, but the health and safety of our campers and staff here is our top priority, and we firmly believe that this is the best way for us to help protect that. We are planning to use this time to continue trying to find ways to improve the camp, and then preparing both it and ourselves to resume activities in the fall. The Lord has been using this place in special ways for a long time, and in spite of this, we fully believe that He has every intention of continuing for many years to come!
In the meantime, we have had many people contact us concerned about the financial impact this is having on the camp. First of all, thank you! It means so much to us to know there are so many people thinking and praying for the camp, especially during this time of such uncertainty. Our finance committee has attempted to put together some projections, and assuming we’ll still be able to host fall retreats, our estimated loss for this year will be around $130,000. In the event that we are unable to host fall retreats, we will experience a greater loss. This figure, of course, also assumes that those who normally give a financial gift to Westminster Woods will still be able to do so this year.
As a result, we’d like to ask you, if you’re able, to consider an additional financial gift to Westminster Woods. We recognize that this won’t be possible for everyone, and to those of you who have been hit just as hard as we have by the coronavirus pandemic, please know that we’re praying for you. Scripture reminds us time and again that our God is a faithful God; Psalm 46 tells us that He will not abandon us in our time of need, but comes to offer refuge and peace even when things seem to be going badly. We are confident that God is present and working in this season just like any other. Once again, thank you for your support—we say it all the time, but camp truly could not happen without you! Glory be to God!
