A breast-cancer diagnosis in 2009 enabled me to be inspired by wonderful nurses who helped me. I wanted to be like them, so I changed careers and returned to school to become an RN while working and raising my family. Also, my lifestyle changed for the better. I began long-distance walking, and then running. In 2015, upon entering my final semester of nursing school, I again was diagnosed with breast cancer. I completed school with honors, became an RN, regained my health and began working at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. I always wanted to work with kids – and what better place could there be? I’ve completed many 5K races and a 10K – and participating in my first TCS New York City Marathon is my next challenge. Running for every patient at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, and my co-workers, is an honor!
I am excited to represent Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and WMCHealth in the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon. I am going the distance for our patients.
