About the Campaign

Africa has one of the highest rates of sexual violence in the world. For example, The Democratoc Republic of the Congo has been described as, “the rape capital of the world”. With limited means of support and outlets for victims of sexual assault, MADIFF is taking the initiative to raise funds for survivors to provide them with the protection, support, and care they deserve by giving them access to the following:

*Helpline : Developing a 24/07 MADIFF helpline, in which victims can call or message us for support without incurring any charges.

* Therapy : Therapy is a lifeline for survivors of sexual abuse. Our goal is to provide free counselling sessions and coaching.

* Legal Services : Most survivors of sexual violence cannot exercise their rights because they lack the financial muscle to press charges. MADIFF seeks to be their financial backbone if/when they decide to pursue legal services to press charges on their perpetrators.

* Health Services : Sexual abuse affects survivors not only psychologically but also physically. MADIFF will support medical expenses of survivors of sexual abuse.

An increase in the frequency and severity of the sexual assault and domestic violence have been noticed because of the stay-at-home orders in place across the continent even though many people do not have a safe way to report their situation during this pandemic.

Of the many challenges that women and girls face in Africa, sexual assault has been prevalent. Consequently, it has led to emotional, psychological, and physical effects, such as depression, mental trauma, unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion, and sexually transmitted diseases.

We Stand with survivors of sexual assault in Africa. You can do the same.

"It takes each of us to make a difference for all of us"
