West Michigan Lacrosse is a non-profit lacrosse club built to expand the reach of Lacrosse as a sport and also as a teacher of basic skills to athletes. Teaching athletes the skills of leadership, social interations, and inclusivnes thru the sport of lacrosse. We build these skills by including athletes of all skill levels, races, income levels, and social classes. We intermix groups from all schools, clubs, and programs in the West Michigan area, and encourage interaction between groups. This interaction provides a base for inclusion and not division between school systems reguardless of their economic areas.
West Michigan Lacrosse an its directors have been tasked with starting a area league for athletes to compete in. This league would be different than most, as it will look to be a fully inclusive league. All skill levels, genders, ages, etc. will all be included. Each player included in the league would play for their school, and represent them as such. Teams would then be broken up into levels based on wether they are seasoned teams, or beginner teams. There would also be a system for teams to move up and down based on play between the two segments.
As a non-profit, we also look to build segments for schools not currently entertaining a team. Schools that do not have a team, but would be interested would gain funding and gear thru West Michigan Lacrosse to start programs.
Overall, West Michigan Lacrosse not only builds lacrosse players, but athletes that learn to be leaders and include others in their climb to success. We appreciate any help we can get to obtain our goals. We have had to cancell this years summer program due to the pandemic, and thus have coaches, and expenses that need to be taken care of in addition to the costs associated with creating this new league.
