More than 23,000 Nicaragauan refugees have poured into Costa Rica since April 2018, escaping the violent repression of the Ortega regime. Most who cross the border arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs and their personal story of how they avoided being shot by paramilitaries or police. In response to this migration crisis, Corner of Love has established a new headquarters close to the Costa Rica-Nicaragua border to provide relief to refugees who are arriving tired, hungry, and emotionally raw as they experience the devastating sadness of leaving behind their homeland and loved ones.
I will be traveling to Corner of Love's refugee center March 10-17, 2019 to help serve the migrant families. As a member of the misison team, I will help proivde medical care, clothing, towels, blankets, and toiletries to the refugees.
I am currently raising funds for my trip costs. Donations can be mailed directly to Corner of Love: 22142 SE 237th St Suite #100, Maple Valley, WA 98038 or through this crowdrise site. When mailing in dondations, please note on the memo line that donations are for Wesley Thompson.
