Tough Ruck 26.2 is a group of military and civilians whose sole purpose is to Ruck in honor and in memory of our Fallen Service Members, Police, Firefighters and EMTs, while raising funds to support military families in times of need. Military Friends Foundation is the official charity of Tough Ruck. On April 15, 2013, the Tough Ruckers were at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and joined the first responders to help those that were injured by the horrific blasts. They truly exemplify the best of what our Nation is. I am humbled to be part of this group for this event.
All Tough Ruckers will walk a 26.2 mile course with our Rucks and carry the names of our Fallen comrades with us. I will be carrying a 22lb backpack. More weight when adding in my water and snacks. And I will be carrying the name of Joe Drago, my Mom's second husband, who fought in WWII in some of the biggest and most crucial battles in France and Belgium. If you see someone walking around the Portland area carrying a backpack over the next few months and wonder what they're doing, it might be me out on a training ruck!
Usually, the Ruck happens the Sunday before Boston Marathon Monday in Concord, Massachusetts on the original trails of the Revolutionary War. This year, my sister, borther-in-law and sister-in-law all signed up to do the Tough Ruck the day before the Boston Marathon in April. Sadly, COVID-19 changed all of those plans. The Tough Ruck is now a virtual event that will take place Sept. 11 - 13 in keeping with the timing of the virtual Boston Marathon. My sister and I are planning to ruck in Pennsylvania together while my brother- and sister-in-law will be rucking in Ohio.
I hope you will consider supporting my efforts and the efforts of the Military Friends Foundation in their work to support miitary families in times of need. They certainly deserve our support for the many sacrifices they have made and are making for our country.
My fundraising deadline in August 1. Thank you for your consideration. And Ruck on!!!
