Wellness Works was founded in 1986 during the AIDS epidemic by a Jesuit Nun and a Registered Nurse, who strove to provide a space to support individuals suffering from illnesses affecting not only the body, but also the mind and soul. 12 years ago, Wellness Works shifted focus to support Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other physical and mental health challenges, continuing our mission to heal.
In Los Angeles County alone, there are nearly 250,000 veterans, where approximately 30% of recently returning veterans suffer from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other physical and mental health ailments.
The work of Wellness Works, as ancillary to the services of the Veterans Administration (VA), is needed more than ever.
Unfortunately, as a small non-profit, we are currently in a position where we won’t be able to keep our doors open without the generosity of donors and the continued volunteering spirit of our community. Our Board of Directors and new leadership are restructuring our organization, not only to continue to provide the healing services for our Veteran community, but also to become a more effective and impactful organization for the community at large.
Wellness Works is being reimagined. We are taking steps and creating plans to not only survive this challenging time, but to thrive. Our first and foremost mission is to support the needs of our Veterans. From providing psychotherapy appointments and acupuncture to relieve pain, to hosting the Not On Our Watch event to raise awareness about Veteran suicide, Wellness Works has created a space for Veterans to heal. We provide a soft landing for our Veterans and we are committed to serving the Veterans in even better ways.
As an organization that has brought forth countless celebrations, and also survived several challenges, we are asking for your support. Simply put, we can’t do this without you. Your support will make a real, lasting impact on the lives of veterans that have served our country and now need our help. Please consider making a donation in honor or in memory of a veteran in your life.
Sadly, we know 22 veterans take their own lives every day. Or proven, non-stigmatizing program meets the needs of veterans who are on the edge of committing suicide. Please help us help them with a donation today. We can’t do it without your help.
Here are a few testimonials from some of the veterans we have been fortunate to have served:

"The quality treatments I receive at Wellness Works have improved my life immensely. Acupuncture and Craniosacral therapy, as well as the peaceful environment, have reduced my pain levels and stress. "When I first discovered Wellness Works, I was suffering from a host of health issues, ranging from extreme rage, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. I was an extreme chaotic mess. For several years I was having severe difficulty adapting to civilian life after 14 years as an Army Paratrooper, and truly needed the type of help that only holistic medicine would provide. To this day, I am still receiving the most wonderful, holistic, truly healing treatments and care at Wellness Works. If it were not for the dedication of the center, I honestly don't know where I would be at this point. I am incredibly grateful for Wellness Works." - Female Veteran, Army
