Wellness in the Schools is hosting a community bike ride to celebrate the life and legacy of Executive Chef Paul Anthony Valdes Jr., 56, first WITS Chef Partner and loyal friend, who transitioned September 18th, 2019.
Growing up in the Bronx, Chef Paul served an abundance of delicious food to family, friends and community. As an Executive Chef, he nurtured the next generation of chefs and cooks. As part of his legacy, he asked that we do the same.
Chef Paul was an avid cyclist, and in remembrance of our dear friend, Wellness in the Schools is launching an annual bike ride to raise funds for non-profit Future Chefs, a school-to-career program that provides teenagers a strong culinary foundation for a successful academic and professional future.
For the inaugural ride, we will join the established Tour de Bronx on Sunday, October 27th.
Wellness in the Schools will match all donations up to $1,000.
Your donation of $25 will instantly become $50.
Here’s how you can participate:·
-Ride with us. Tour de Bronx registration (above) is FREE; join our team by typing in WELLNESS IN THE SCHOOLS when prompted. We request a contribution of $25 per cyclist; please use the ‘donate’ button here.
-Sponsor our team with a donation. No amount is too small!
-Share the link to this fundraiser on social media.
-Send us off at the starting line on the morning of the ride.
All proceeds will go to Future Chefs to buy apprentice starting kits (knife roll, kitchen shoes, head gear, etc.) at $100 per kit.
