For the first time ever at Idaho Horse Rescue we have had three horses hospitalized in the same month and we are overwhelmed with the veterinary costs. You already know about Jack, who is still taking meds, but going great. Thanks to generous donors who have sent checks and donated online, we have paid $4,100 of Jack’s medical bills. There is still about $1500 left to pay.
When Robert noticed that our old girl Shammie had blood and puss coming out of her nostril he rushed her to the vet. It was discovered that she had rotten tooth roots, due to old age, which had caused a sinus infection. The resulting sinus infection had made it painful for her to chew, which in turn caused her to get an impaction. Her treatment cost $3100.
And sadly, we lost our dear Raven. Raven came from terrible conditions in Adams County and was almost dead when we got her about a year ago. Unfortunately, her gastrointestinal track was compromised. We did everything we could and kept her alive for a year, but it finally caught up to her. After a week of intensive care we lost her. This cost us $3700. This means IHR still owes $8,300, on top of our ongoing hay, farrier and veterinary care costs. Please consider donating to help us through this difficult time.
