In 2017, as part of our mission to serve communities across the globe, As One traveled to beautiful country of Jamaica to provide much-needed educational enrichment programs to children at the Ulster Spring Primary School in Trelawny, Jamaica. We were deeply moved by our time in the country; inspired by the wonder, resilience and unbridled joy of the children we encountered at the small, but mighty school.
This summer, to continue the work started last year, As One Charity will travel back to Trelawny to bring a creative and performing arts camp to the children of Ulster Spring Primary School.
The week-long, arts-immersion experience will take place August 12 - 19, and provide 150 students with the opportunity to explore their creative nature. For many of the participants, this will be their first time exploring their inner artist and experiencing classes in areas such as theater, dance, music, painting, drawing, craft, fashion, and design. As One will also provide curriculum in foreign language (French & Spanish), computer literacy and creative writing.
We have the volunteers, venue, and bright young stars eager to learn, but we still need your support.
As One needs to raise $11,000 by August 1, and we invite you to help us make this camp a reality. Your support will not only provide art supplies, costumes, meals and safe transportation for campers during our week in Trelawny, it will allow us to give each camper a backpack filled with art and school supplies in preparation for the upcoming school year.
