The Waterloo Urban Farmers Market is dedicated to championing and supporting local producers and small businesses by providing a community resource for local, sustainable food and products.
The market provides a critical connection between the community, particularly those living downtown and in the surrounding neighborhoods - an area designated as a food desert, our farmers fill the void with fresh, affordable and nutritious foods.
The Waterloo Urban Farmers Market serves a diverse public including seniors and low-income families. The market participates in a variety of benefit programs including SNAP/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks, and senior/WIC vouchers. Each week, following the market, our vendors send donations of fresh, local produce to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
Our market is currently experiencing serious, unanticipated financial challenges due to the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak, but we are committed to continuing to provide service to the community while maintaining safe market operations for the 2020 season and beyond. Your donation will help us continue to support local farmers and entrepreneurs to provide everyone with the opportunity to “buy fresh, buy local”.
We appreciate your support, no matter the size of the contribution. Please help us spread the word and share with others who love farmers markets, and the role they play in our community, as much as we do!
