In support of Tusk and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, our house is running a 5k on June 27 for the Lewa Safari Challenge! Help us raise money for their on-going community led work in Kenya.
A bit about them:
One of Tusk’s major partners since 1995, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is renowned worldwide for innovative and highly successful community-led conservation. Lewa’s pioneering work helped recover Kenya’s black rhino population from the brink of extinction and protects 11% of the world’s critically endangered Grevy’s zebra. The Lewa Education Programme currently supports 21 primary and secondary schools and over 7,000 children. The community development programme provides water for drinking and irrigation. Crucially, it also supports agriculture, healthcare and road infrastructure. Funds from this event support more than a dozen other projects in Kenya, working with local communities to protect endangered species from the African lion and mountain bongo to many turtle species along Kenya’s coastline.

A bit about us:
I'll be running with my housemate from our home in NoMa neighborhood, Washington D.C. to the U.S. Capitol, observing social distancing guidelines. We'll both be making a donation to join in the virtual marathon, we hope you join us in contributing.
We acknowledge that the land we are running on and where we live is unceded land belonging to the Nacotchtank people.
