Washington Academy for International Medical Graduates is a non-profit organization that is addressing and breaking down the barriers that prevent qualified medical doctors from accomplishing their professional and medical career goals. These medical graduates are mostly immigrant and refugee physicians who have obtained their medical degrees abroad and now call Washington state their home.
Our organization is striving to develop programs that would support these doctors to pass their Medical Board exams and, subsequently, clinical and residency training. Additionally, close to 40 % of currently practicing physicians in Washington State will reach retirement age in the next decade. Two thirds or more of all physicians providing direct patient care in Garfield, Ferry, Columbia, Clallam, Pacific, San Juan, and Skamania counties were 55 or older in 2016.
Funds collected will be used to hire full-time staff, Rent office space, and support hospitals that provide sub-internships and clinical training for doctors who completed their medical license examinations and credentials. Our goal is to integrate 400 qualified doctors into medical residency programs. A research paper from the American College Physicians showed that adding one doctor to a community of 10,000 people would save three lives a year. Your support could help integrate these doctors in medically underserved areas, and together we could save thousands of lives every year.
Donations are tax dedcuctable and you will be getting an IRS compliant receipt from our sponsor Angels For Angels so that you can file in your taxe returns.
Thank you for your support,
