GIVE THE GIFT OF WARMTH AND HOPE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON! Join Area Rotary Clubs Help Those in Need With 4th Annual Warm Feet, Warm Hearts Campaign!
With the La Crosse Warming Center doors having opened on November 1, area Rotary Clubs (Rotary Club of La Crosse, Rotary After Hours, Valley View Rotary, Hilltoppers Rotary, and Onalaska Rotary) are working once again to collect warm clothing for guests. Clubs are collecting new socks and new or gently used winter boots, coats, sweatshirts, hats, and waterproof gloves that will help keep our community members in need warm.
HOWEVER, THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT! As with everything, this annual clothing drive has been affected by COVID-19! Many are concerned about dropping items off but still want to provide a gift of warmth! MAKING A DONATION WILL HELP CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROVIDE WINTER WEAR AND CARE FOR OUR HOMELESS NEIGHBORS! These funds will help Catholic Charities purchase high-need items in bulk, purchase to meet specific needs, and fulfill Christmas “wish lists” from Warming Center guests.
Rotarians follow the motto, ‘Service above Self,’ and collecting warm clothing or making a donation as part of our “Warm Feet, Warm Hearts” project is just one way we seek to serve our community. Last year, the La Crosse Warming Center provided services to more than 290 unduplicated guests, amounting to 7,235 individual stays. This required over 10,000 volunteer hours by 200 volunteers. Our homeless neighbors come in at 7 pm each night and are offered a warm, safe place to shower, eat, and sleep. However, after staying the night, going back out into the cold can be painful without the right clothing. You can help meet this need with your online donation today!
