I know it’s hard to believe, considering my youthful glow, but I will be tuning 53 on September 30th. September is also National Recovery Month. In honor of both of these occasions I plan to run 53K (33 miles) from Cold Spring Harbor to Tobay Beach, to support the amazing work of The Herren Project. Included in my route will be the entire 20 miles of the Nassau/Suffolk Greenbelt Trail, so the trek will be part trail run and part road race.
Many of you are aware of Herren Project, and the amazing work they offer in the treatment, family support and education of substance use disorder. Over the past three years, Tara and I have participated in fundraising runs for the Herren Project, and many of you have been super supportive of our efforts (thank you).
The reason I choose to support Herren Project for my birthday is in recognition of my awesome Team Herren Project teammates and their commitment to this cause, each other, those in need of recovery support. COVID has caused all of use to re-direct a bit, and in that re-direction, I have witnessed a strengthening of my teammates' dedication to the mantra that “good grows”. So, THP, this effort of mine is to contribute some good to the growth of our collective efforts.
Please use this link to support the cause, offer hope to those in need or simply to wish me a happy birthday. If you are unable to give, please offer a prayer of hope to anyone in need.
Thank you in advance for your help and encouragement.
