We have all had experiences where only time can heal the wounds created by what life throws at us. During one of those times, when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, she and my family were blessed by an organization that through their kindness and generosity, made enduring that tough time possible.
The Ellie Fund is a Massachusetts based nonprofit organization that provides critical support services free of charge to help relieve a breast cancer patient’s burden while in treatment.
Grocery Assistance, Transportation, Light Housekeeping, Childcare Reimbursement, Nutritious Prepared Meals, Integrative therapy services including acupuncture and oncology massage for metastatic patients.
During this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my mother and I have chosen to give back to the Ellie Fund, as we have experienced their generosity firsthand (specifically through their grocery assistance). The Ellie Fund allowed my family to have one less thing to worry about so that our time and energy could be devoted to what mattered most at the time: healing. The peace, solace and support that the Ellie Fund provided my mom and my family cannot be quantified. I am hoping to give back to the Ellie Fund to ensure that this organization can continue to serve our community by mitigating the stress that breast cancer patients feel as they fight for their lives.
My teammates and I will each be walking/running 31 miles in the month of October in order to conjure awareness and raise money for the Ellie Fund! Thank you in advance for your time and consideration in helping us to reach our goal of $2500.
