It’s been over a year since the COVID cloud darkened our world and much of life as we had known it came to a stop: schools, houses of worship, theaters, sports venues, and parks. However, a few things did not stop: 60,000 more people were newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
June (name changed), age 45, was one of those diagnosed this year with Parkinson’s. She wonders when and how to tell her colleagues at work and how long she can keep her job. Then there is her family. She’s divorced, with two daughters, ages six and eleven. What to tell them? How long will she be able to care for them? Where can she get help? What resources are available?
You can be part of the solution for June and the millions of others who daily face this devastating disease. The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group of the Mid-Hudson Valley invites you to make a tax-deductible donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation and hasten the day when this disease will be behind us.
This year marks our 10th Annual “Walk Over Water” and the delayed celebration of our 35th Anniversary as an organization. We invite you to join our celebration and participate in our Walk on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 on the beautiful Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, NY. We’ll have information booths and activities for all ages. Join the fun! For additional details, visit www.midhudsonparkinsons.org or call 914-475-2793.
Despite difficult times, people have not stopped caring. They have gone on doing what they could. Please join us in doing what you can.
