I lost my dear Linda to Alzheimer’s dementia in January. Thanks to the support and guidance of the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center in Brewster, I was able to emerge from the dark tunnel of caregiving with my physical, mental, and emotional health intact.
Since I began associating with this non-profit charity, I have answered the need to give back some of what they gave to me, though I can never give enough time and funds to make up for what they have given to me: my life and my health.
On October 14, they will be staging their largest annual fundraiser of the year in Provincetown, MA– a walk through the streets to raise money and let the public know the good they are doing for all of Cape Cod. I have initiated a team to help – Walk for Linda – and to honor Linda’s bravery during the time she was facing and fighting this horrible disease. Her legacy will live forever, as everyone she knew felt her kindness and experienced her love of life and her love for everyone she met along the way. We spent 43 wonderful years together, and she was truly my soul mate.
I am therefore asking that you remember Linda and help the AFSC continue their good work to guide and save other caregivers who too often wilt under the tremendous pressure that caring for a loved one entails. All donations will directly benefit the Family Support Center, and all of the money will go towards their services. Please join Janet and I in Provincetown, if you are in the area. Otherwise, any donation, however small or large, will be appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration,
