Due to Governor Newsom's recent suggestion to postpone/cancel large gatherings, we've decided to turn our Walkathon into a virtual event.
We will be continuing our online campaign so please continue to share our campaign and your team page to help us reach our goal! We are about half-way to our goal so we still have a ways to go!
It is not too late to start a team if you haven't yet. Click here to create your team.
Join us for the Virtual Walkathon on March 22nd by following us on Instagram and Facebook. We will be posting to our story and feed throughout the day, featuring our sponsors, partners, and many more interactive components! Although we're disappointed that we cannot gather in community, we still hope that this can be a chance for our broad network of supporters to connect. Please tune in and participate virtually on March 22nd.
Alexandria House presents our 4th Annual Walkathon at the beautiful Doheny Campus of Mount Saint Mary's University! This event promotes wellness and awareness of homelessness, poverty, and economic injustice. We don't talk often enough about the connection between health and wealth. “Socioeconomic status is the most powerful predictor of disease, disorder, injury and mortality we have,” says Tom Boyce, MD, chief of UCSF’s Division of Developmental Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics. In the grand scheme of the fight against homelessness, attending to the health and wellness of our community is just as important as providing them housing.
That's why we're so excited to have an event that emphasizes wellness. Our Walkathon has grown so much in participation and support since its inception and it's all because of your willingness to help us spread the word about Alexandria House. We can't wait to see how much bigger we will grow this year and beyond!
All are welcome to join us to WALK, RUN, OR ROLL for 5K, 1K, or just come enjoy the beautiful scenery of the MSMU - Doheny Campus.

About Alexandria House:
Founded in 1996, Alexandria House is a transitional residence and house of hospitality. We provide safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing. Located in the densely populated and ethnically diverse Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, we also serve our broader neighborhood community by providing educational and enrichment opportunities for our neighbors as well as our residents. More than 92% of the women who have moved through the Alexandria House program have succeeded in securing financial stability and permanent housing.
