After retiring from a 30-year teaching career, I began working as the volunteer coordinator for Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA. I always thought teaching was my passion, but I'm finding this work just as fulfilling. The mission of DVSSP is to increase awareness of domestic violence and its effect on the community, to empower those victimized by providing advocacy and safe and effective services, and to work for social change designed to eliminate domestic violence. As a non-profit agency, we provide a 24-hour hotline, emergency safe houses, empowerment counseling and support groups, children's programs, legal advocacy, and educational programs, trainings, and presentations focusing on violence prevention offered to schools, local businesses, agencies, civic, and religious groups.
All of our services are free and confidential. We are funded by grants and through donations from area churches, organizations, clubs, and private individuals. Please consider making a donation to help us broaden our services throughout Washington, Greene, and Fayette Counties.
