Walk, Run, Roll 5K for Ohio Buckeye Blitz

In 2006, Ohio University Doctorate of Physical Therapy students began the Battle the Blitz event, an annual tournament between Athens and Ohio University community members and the Buckeye Blitz Wheelchair Rugby Team. This tournament was started as a way to raise funds to offset the high cost to compete, as well as to raise awareness for adaptive sport programs.
Due to COVID-19, we can not hold our annual in-person tournament. However, we still hope to help raise money and bring awareness through our virtual 5k event.

The 14th annual event will take place from Friday, October 9th to Sunday, October 11th. How it works:

1. Register for $10 (Link below)

2. Run, walk, jog or roll 5K (3.1 miles) anytime between October 9th-11th.  Participate anywhere on a road, trail, track or treadmill!

3. Proof or it didn't happen! Upload your photo to Facebook or Instagram and tag @ouquadrugby (FB), @ohiouniversitypt (IG), and hashtag #BattleTheBlitz, #BuckeyeBlitz, #QuadRugby

About Quad Rugby

The Ohio Buckeye Blitz are a co-ed, semi-professional wheelchair rugby team based in Columbus, Ohio. Quadriplegic Rugby is a full-contact sport where all players exhibit some level of dysfunction in all four limbs, often due to spinal cord injuries. To play the sport, teams must come up with enough funds for registrations, lodging, and competitive equipment. Chairs alone can cost up to $7,000, and when combined with other fees can cost the team more than $17,000 annually.
