Friends and Family,
Welcome to my fundraising page! For the past three years I have been undertaking my goal of hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. This year I will return for a few weeks to continue the trek.
The Appalachian Trail – or “AT” – is a 2,189 mile route stretching from Georgia to Maine. This year my goal is to finish a 220 mile stretch consisting of sections in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. As I trek the AT, I will call many places home: a tent, a shelter, a hostel, and perhaps a hotel from time to time. For me, this is temporary. For many of our wounded veterans the lack of a proper home or access to shelters has made homelessness a permanent reality.
To raise awareness and provide support for fellow veterans, I will be using my hike to raise money for Wounded Warrior Homes – a non-profit organization that provides transitional housing and treatment for veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injuries or PTSD. To learn more about Wounded Warrior Homes, check out their website: http://woundedwarriorhomes.org I am hoping you will join me in supporting Wounded Warrior Homes by making a donation. You can donate either a lump sum or on a per-mile basis. Over the past three years I have raised over $2,500 toward my goal.
Whether you donate or not, please feel free to follow me on Instagram @reynaldo_freemando as I undertake this trek. I will be posting pictures and updates regularly. If you can't make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this page on Facebook or Twitter. Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page!
Thanks so much for your generosity!
