About Us: October 2012 was when our family’s world turned upside down. Our incredibly strong, self-less, superman Dad was diagnosed with ALS. From that day forward, we have made it our goal to bring as much awareness and funds to this awful disease. Our Dad bravely battled ALS for 4 years, and although his outer body became a shell of what it used to be, his inner body showed a strength none of us can imagine carrying ourselves. For our dad, it was never a question of "Why me?", but instead, "Lets find a cure for everyone else". Through this, Steady Eddie's Squad was born.
106 was our dad's badge number, as he moved from Patrolman, to Sergeant, to Lieutenant at Ewing Police. This number has become a symbol of enormous strength. A"cop's cop" is what many described him as, someone always looking to help others before himself, never too busy or too high up in rank.
Our dad's physical battled ended August 19th 2016, but our family's battle with ALS will continue until we can eradicatethis monster. The walks are a show of unity and strength, and were no doubt what kept our dad fighting for as long as he did.
As this walk approaches, we are hopeful about what the future will bring in regards to ALS research and what it can give to families and patients just diagnosed, and those who have been battling.
To date, Steady Eddie's Squad has raised over $110,000 all for research and has had over 600 walkers.
This year, we are raising funds for a special organization local to Mercer County, Hope Loves Company. "Hope Loves Company (HLC) is the only non-profit in the U.S. with the mission of providing educational and emotional support to children and young adults who had or have a loved one battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease".
