This event is near and dear to my heart. As many of you know, I work for Animal Services and serve on the board for our Friends organization, Verona Street Animal Society (VSAS). What was once the dog control and the dog pound has evolved into a progressive animal welfare organization focused on helping animals and people throughout the Rochester community.
I founded this event in 2007 to help raise awareness and funds for Animal Services. Now in its 12th year, it has become a popular annual celebration of pets and one of the most significant sources of support from VSAS for the Animal Services mission. The funds raised support pet adoption, spay and neuter, dog playgroups and in-shelter enrichment, foster care, pet owner assistance, and more.
A few years ago I set my personal goal at $500 and exceeded $1000 in fundraising. Two years ago, I set my goal at $1000 and exceeded $1500. Last year, I set my fundraising goal at $1500 and exceeded $4000. So this year, I'm raising my personal bar again and hoping that you will help me shatter it for this important cause.
