Lorna and Amanda are competing in Dancing with Boulder Stars 2019! Based on the hit TV show, this event features local celebrities who are partnered with professional dancers. The teams undergo an exhilarating rehearsal process which culminates in a live dance competition at the historic Boulder Theater on Wednesday, November 6th.
Fans of the teams vote for their favorite via donations which benefit YWCA Boulder County. The team that raises the most wins the championship! These contributions support essential services in our community, such as emergency drop-in child care, youth empowerment programs, and racial equity programs. ABOUT LORNA DONOVAN
Lorna Donovan is Founder of her own firm, Leader Trends Inc., which provides business development and performance consulting to companies around the world. Her mission is to build leaders out in the field – where it counts and pays off! She has been privileged to speak at events from Women’s Vision Leadership Ascent, to CU Boulder, to Junior League of Denver and instills a desire to be successful with women clients of all races and backgrounds.
Educated in Chapel Hill, NC, Lorna moved sight unseen to Colorado where she took on both single motherhood and starting a business at the same time. She is participating in DWBS this year because she is drawn to the cause of early childhood development. Her daughter attended Boulder Day Nursery and used YWCA Boulder County’s Children’s Alley as a back-up daycare option. She knows firsthand just how critical the drop-in service is to families in need.
Lorna’s personal belief is that creative growth and personal health are worth maintaining forever. She is excited to give herself the time and opportunity to cultivate these passions, and hopes her DWBS participation inspires her daughter and her peers to do the same. She describes her dancing much like singing in the shower: “I’ve only done it by myself, so learning to do it with a partner is a great challenge!”
ABOUT AMANDA KEPUS
Amanda is from Kansas City, Missouri where she danced competitively from ages 3-17. She moved to Boulder, Colorado when she was 18 to study at the University of Colorado where she majored in International Affairs with minors in dance and French. In 2017 she joined the Blue Moon Dance Company where she still dances to this day. During her time at CU Boulder she received a grant to study the relationship between dance and policy in Senegal while training alongside Senegalese national dance and theatre companies. After graduating in May of 2019 this is Amanda’s first time competing in Dancing with the Boulder Stars. She is truly excited to be a part of this amazing fundraiser and thrilled to use her love of dance to help others.
