Chris and Allison are competing in Dancing with Boulder Stars 2019! Based on the hit TV show, this event features local celebrities who are partnered with professional dancers. The teams undergo an exhilarating rehearsal process which culminates in a live dance competition at the historic Boulder Theater on Wednesday, November 6th.
Fans of the teams vote for their favorite via donations which benefit YWCA Boulder County. The team that raises the most wins the championship! These contributions support essential services in our community, such as emergency drop-in child care, youth empowerment programs, and racial equity programs. ABOUT CHRIS NELSON
Chris is the CEO of fellow Boulder nonprofit, Attention Homes. His personal and professional mission, of which he has dedicated much of his life to, is to end youth homelessness. Luckily he found a partner, his wife Megan, who is equally passionate about that same mission and both of them have worked for Attention Homes for over a decade providing resources to thousands of kids in the community. Now they have two kids of their own and love to spend their free time outdoors.
Chris emphatically admits that he has no dance skills or experience whatsoever but is excited about raising money and awareness for the YWCA. He believes that both eliminating racism and empowering women are necessary for our community and its members to thrive. www.attentionhomes.org
ABOUT ALLISON JOHNSON
Allison has trained and performed from Miami to Los Angeles. Dancing for twenty years, one of the many highlights of her career was taking runner-up alongside her (now) husband on the Dancing with the Stars Live Tour in 2007. She is the proud owner of Love, Laugh, Dance - Broomfield’s only adult Ballroom and Latin dance studio.
This is Allison’s 7th time performing in DWBS, and they just keep getting better! Allison loves the opportunity to shine a light on a charity that supports women and children. As a wife and a mother of two, Allison knows it takes a village. She relishes being able to help the YWCA village through dance.
When she’s not teaching or choreographing, she’s writing children’s books and dance screenplays. You can find her future bestselling kids book, “Braving Bedtime”, on Amazon. And be looking for her debut movie musical, “Hopefully Soon”, in theaters in the not too distant future. Till then, she’ll see you on the hardwood. www.lovelaughdance.com
