Voces Ciudadanas is a grassroots organization based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn founded in 2015. Voces Ciudadanas has launched successful campaigns for new schools in our community to address school overcrowding and increase educational equity. We have connected with many Chinese and Latinx immigrant families who have been severely impacted by the COVID19 crisis. In response we have hired 5 community residents as part-time community outreach workers and connected with over 100 working class immigrant families. It is clear at this time that Latinx and Chinese families need Food Assistance and that the need for many will grow. Voces Ciudadanas, in partnership with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid, is launching a weekly campaign to raise $3,000 each week for 8 weeks to support 100 families with a food assistance box that includes:10 pounds of chicken 5 pounds of potatoes 5 cans of beans & veggies 5 pounds of rice 2 loaves of bread 5 pounds of Pasta 5 cans of tuna 5 pounds of fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberries, apples & oranges) 5 pounds of fresh veggies (tomatoes, onions, cucumbers) Census information, a two page resource list in Spanish & Chinese, and a note with a positive message
We are counting on your support to aid the over 100 families, the children, babies, moms, dads and grandparents in our community. Over 97% of all funds will go directly to families on a weekly basis.
